STRUTHERS - Julia Ann Vargin, 84, died Sunday afternoon, March 6, 2011, at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Mrs. Vargin was born Feb. 7, 1927, in Struthers, a daughter of Frank and Caroline Sylvestri Ramun.
She attended Struthers High School. In addition to being a homemaker, Mrs. Vargin was employed by Strouss' Department Store for over 20 years.
She was a member of the Highway Tabernacle, where she belonged to its Bible Study Group and was a member of the 700 Club. Mrs. Vargin was known for her generosity and wonderful cooking by family and friends.
She leaves her husband, Peter J. Vargin, whom she married May 29, 1948; daughter, Angela (Vincent) Procopio of Canfield; son, Richard (Donna) Vargin of Struthers; four grandchildren, Vincent Procopio of Poland, Daniel (Danielle) Procopio of Canfield, Peter Vargin and Teresa Vargin, both of Struthers; and a great-grandchild, Ethan Procopio.
In addition her to parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Adeline Cercone, Mary Peluso, and Annie Colby; and five brothers, Samuel, Joseph, Michael, Mark, and John Ramun.
Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home in Struthers with Pastor Joel Theis officiating. Interment will follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery.
Family and friends will be received Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. and Thursday from 10:15 to 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home.
The family requests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions in Mrs. Vargin's name to a charity of the donor's choice.
