Boardman - Julia Ann Sulik, 88, earned her angel wings on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at Shepherd of the Valley in Boardman after an extended illness. Mrs. Sulik was born February 8, 1921 in Youngstown, a daughter of Frank and Anna Kurdys. She was a 1939 graduate of South High School. On May 28, 1941 she married and spent 52 wonderful years with Martin J. Sulik until his death on October 21, 1994. During WWII, Mrs. Sulik worked as a riveter at Truscon Steele Company assembling airplanes. Later, she worked at Triangles, a raincoat factory in Youngstown, and then at Wilbur Flowers in Boardman. She was an avid mall walker, accomplished seamstress and a tremendous cook. Julia enjoyed ceramics, crafts, and gardening. âa�A"Babaâa�A� was a remarkable grandma who spent endless hours with her grandchildren. Words cannot express the strong bond that was shared. Her love and devotion will remain in our hearts forever. âa�A"Babaâa�A� leaves behind one daughter, Bobbie (B.J.) Simcox of Poland, grandchildren, Marta (Jason) Evans of Boardman, Greg Simcox of Akron, one sister, Wanda (William) Payne of Boardman, one brother Felix Kurdys of Alexandria, VA, a brother-in-law, George Sulik of Boardman, sister-in-laws, Helen Kurdys, Martha Sulik and Mary Sulik, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a sister Mildred Kurdys of Boardman, brothers, Leo (Mary) Kurdys of Melbourne Beach, Fl and Henry Kurdys of Boardman. Family and friends will be received from 4-6 p.m. Monday, March 30 at Good Hope Lutheran Church in Boardman. Services with Pastor Robert Quaintance will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Silver Lining Fund, c/o The Hope Center for Cancer Care, 835 Southwestern Run, Boardman, in memory of Julia Sulik.
