Boardman - Judy A. Bullen, 72, died Friday afternoon, February 17, 2017 at Hospice of the Valley's Hospice House after a long battle with cancer.
Judy was born January 22, 1945 in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Gerhard and Mary Swineberg Kahler.
A 1963 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School, Judy began her working career with J.C. Penney in customer service and bookkeeping, until becoming a dedicated wife, mother, and homemaker. Her husband, James A. Bullen, passed away unexpectedly in a motorcycle accident in 1979.
After her husband's passing, Judy went back to school and received her associate's degree in computer science from Youngstown State University. Most recently, she was employed at Miller-Holzwarth in the accounting department, retiring in 2002.
She is survived by her son, David (Niralynn) Bullen of Urbana, MD; daughter, Lori Bullen of Boardman; sister, Carole (Edward) Reagan of Boardman; two brothers, Chuck (Geri) Kahler of Camano Island, WA and Jack Jones of Indianapolis, IN; two grandchildren, James Bullen of Boardman and Taylor Bullen of Urbana; and two great-grandchildren, Aidan and Atticus Bullen; and her longtime companion, Ron Wilcox of Warren.
A funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market St., Boardman. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Boardman.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday from 5-7 p.m. and Friday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the funeral home.
Although flowers are beautiful, the family suggests that memorial tributes may take the form of contributions in Judy's name to Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Rd., Poland, Ohio 44514.
