Judith Kay Mendoza

Judith Kay Mendoza, 73, of Niles, died June 27, 2017 at her residence with her family by her side. Judy was born December 14, 1943 in Warren, OH, a daughter of Maxwell and Ruth Bailey Allen.
She was a 1961 graduate Lakeview High School. Judy went on to attend Southside Hospital School of Nursing, where she got certified in 1964. She was a RN and was a traveling nurse having practiced in Ohio, Chicago, and Georgia. Judy also received a certification to work in the ER. She retired in 2008, however continued her care in becoming a foster parent. Her true passion was being a foster parent to 41 kids and caring after her grandchildren.
Judy was also an ordained minister, where she was ordained in 1985 in Chesterfield, Indiana.
She is survived by two daughters, Nicole (Jeff) Scullen of Campbell and Andrea Phelps of Niles; two sons, Daniel Phelps of Niles and Alexander Scott Allen of Niles; two brothers, William (Suzanne) Allen of Cortland and James (Marcia) Allen of Warren; four grandchildren, Krystle (John) Hale of Arkansas, Angelica Phelps of Niles, Raven Phelps of San Antonio, TX, and James Scullen of Campbell; and one great-grandchild, Jaiden Burgess.
She was preceded in death by both of her parents.
The family requests donations be made in c/o Becker Funeral Homes, 11 Spring St., Struthers to help defray funeral expenses.
