Poland- Judith Anderson McCreery, 82, lifelong resident of Poland, passed away peacefully at her home the morning of January 22, 2019.
Judith was born May 11, 1936 in Youngstown, Ohio, a daughter of Harry Stewart and Mary Louise Thomas Anderson.
Judith was a graduate of Poland Seminary High School Class of 1954 and a graduate of Grove City College with a degree in English. After graduation, she worked for the Mahoning County Board of Education, and she was a school librarian for Dobbins Elementary School in Poland. She also worked for over 30 years as the office manager for Nelis Printing in Struthers.
She met her husband, Orville C. “Mac” McCreery Jr., in 1956. They were married on March 1, 1958.
Judith was a lifelong member of the Poland Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday School for 50 years, and was also a founding member of the PSHS Class of 1954 Scholarship Committee.
Judith had a big heart for all animals and loved the companionship from her faithful black lab, Murphy. In her free time, she enjoyed boating on Lake Erie with her husband.
Judith is survived by her husband, Mac, of 61 years; two sons, James C. McCreery of Boardman and Jeffrey S. (Lori) of Poland; one daughter, Jennifer A. (John) Whitinger of Poland; and seven grandsons, Adam, Blaine, Cameron, Shane, Reed, Braden, and Aaron. She is also survived by her brother, Dr. J. James (Mary Ann) Anderson of Canfield and three nieces and a nephew.
A funeral service will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at the Poland Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Paul W. Anderson and the Rev. Dr. Debra M. Cerra officiating.
Friends and family may call on Sunday from 4-6 p.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 270 N. Main St., Poland and Monday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the church, prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Poland Riverside Cemetery.
