POLAND-Judith Irene Collier, 74, died suddenly May 12, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center Emergency Room.
She was born November 2, 1937 in Newark, New Jersey, a daughter of the late James and Mary (Lynskey) Hackett.
Mrs. Collier was a 1955 graduate of Cranford High School and received her RN from St. Peter's Nursing School, both in New Jersey. She later did graduate work in nursing from Boston University.
She was a United States Air Force nurse for two years, stationed in San Antonio, Texas. While stationed there, she met her future husband, James, who was also stationed there. After both were honorably discharged from the Air Force, they made their home in Boston and were married on October 13, 1973. After her marriage, she dedicated her time to raising her two sons. They made their home in Boston until moving to Poland in 1994.
She was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Boardman, where she was a Eucharistic Minister, and a former member of Sacred Heart Church in Newton, MA. Mrs. Collier volunteered for the American Red Cross, helping with their blood drives. She was also an ardent bridge player and belonged to several clubs.
She leaves her husband, James F., of 38 years; two sons, James F. (Elizabeth) Collier, Jr. of Fort Bragg, North Carolina and John (Jacqueline) of Tampa, Florida; five grandchildren, Ethan, Emma, Abigail, Ava and Catherine; sister, Ann (Michael) Noone of Warrenton, Virginia; and brother, James Hackett of Phoenix, Arizona.
A prayer service will be held Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church.
Family and friends will be received Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
