STRUTHERS - Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home for Juan Vazquez, 54, who passed away Sunday, April 21, 2013, at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Juan was born June 27, 1958, in Youngstown, a son of the late Carlos Calderon Vazquez and Mercedes Fred Vazquez.
He graduated from East High School, went on to pursue a career in cosmetology, and worked as a hairdresser in several area salons. Until illness forced him to retire, he was employed as a sous chef at Selah Restaurant.
Juan liked cooking almost as much as he liked sharing his "specialties," which he did often. He also enjoyed hairstyles and fashion.
Juan was a very special person. He loved being with people and endeared himself to friends who would come to love him as family. He had a very kind heart and was always willing to help his neighbors. He spent many hours volunteering at Top Hat Productions.
He is survived by his mother; a sister, Sonia V. Calderon; brothers Carlos Calderon Jr. and Roberto Calderon; four nephews; a niece; and his precious "Kitty" Vazquez. 'May the angels lead you into paradise... ' we will miss you dear, dear friend."
Friends may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home in Struthers.
Contributions to help with funeral expenses may be made at tophatproductions.org.
