J. Russ Wall

Poland - J. Russ Wall, 67, died Thursday, July 26, 2018 at Continuing Healthcare of Boardman.

Russ was born November 17, 1950 in Ligonier, PA, a son of Myrna (Wall) Barker.

Raised in Pittsburgh, Russ was a graduate of Westinghouse Memorial High School and received his culinary degree from the Pennsylvania Institute of Culinary Arts. In 1976, Russ and his family relocated to Watertown, South Dakota. There he owned and operated Homeplate Cafe until moving back to Greenville, PA in 1994. While in Greenville, he worked for St. Paul's Homes in Food Service Management, retiring after 20 years of service. For the last 5 years, he has lived in Poland to be closer to family.

He was a member of the Lions Club in Greenville and the American Culinary Federation, where he was a certified executive chef. Russ was a member of the Church of Christ in Watertown, Struthers, and Hermitage, where he served as a deacon. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing, fishing, and hunting. Russ also loved baseball, especially coaching little league and rooting for the Pirates. Russ will always be remembered for his love of being around people, his debating skills, his quick wit and humor, and love of learning.

He is survived by his three sons, Don (Donna) Lambert of Poland, Steven (Cindy) Lambert of Norfolk, VA, and Matthew (Christina) Wall of Poland; daughter, Deanna (Paul) Spina of Chesapeake, VA; sister, Bonnie Joseph of North Carolina; and seven grandchildren, Audra and Austin Lambert, Korena, Makayla, and Anthony Lambert, and William and McKenna Wall.

In addition to his mother, Russ was preceded in death by his sister, Louise Ballou.

A memorial service will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at the Church of Christ of Struthers, 5775 Poland Struthers Road (St. Rt. 616), where friends will be received one hour prior.
