J. Richard "Dick" Moran

J. Richard "Dick" Moran, 79, of Boardman, Ohio died Thursday afternoon May 10, 2018 at St. Mary's Alzheimer's Center in Columbiana. He was born September 29, 1938 in Youngstown, OH, son of Thomas F. and Annabelle (Cox) Moran and had been a lifelong area resident.

He was a 1956 graduate of Boardman High School and had attended Youngstown College. He was a Navy veteran and had worked as a purchasing agent for Gorant Candies for over forty years. He had been a longtime member of St. Charles Borromeo Church in Boardman, where he had been a Eucharistic minister and sang in the choir. He was a charter member of the Men's Club at the parish. He had also been a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles.

Dick was an avid golfer, having had a hole-in-one in 2000. He was also and avid bowler and a fan of all the Cleveland sports teams. He had a tremendous sense of humor, and was know as the king of the ten minute "knock, knock" Jokes.

His wife, the former Kathy Casey, whom he married June 13, 1964 died October 1, 2014.

He leaves his four sons, Patrick (Andrea) Moran of Dingman"s Ferry, PA., Jimmy (Lisa) Moran, of Perrysburg, OH ,Billy (Jillian) Moran of Boardman, and Timmy Moran of Boardman; four sisters, Peggy Allison of Tampa, FL, Patty Pekar of Boardman, OH, Nancy (Dr. John) Mahan of Astabula, OH, and Betty (Ted) Clarke of Boardman,OH; eleven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Besides his wife and his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers-in-law, Gil Allison, and Mike Pekar.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Boardman, with Father Phillip Rogers officiating. Friends may call from 2-5:00 p.m. Sunday at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home in Boardman and one hour prior to the services at the church.
