JOYCE L. HUGGINS, 64
Joyce L. Huggins gained peace early Saturday morning, March 31st, 2018, at Hospice House surrounded by her family after a three year journey of being a cancer warrior.
Joyce was born February 8th, 1954 in Youngstown, daughter of the late Morris and Audrey Phelps.
A 1972 Austintown Fitch graduate, Joyce married the love of her life, Leonard (Flip) Huggins on March 20, 1980. Together they raised two daughters.
Joyce cherished every moment spent with her family and friends. Her smile was known by many, and even when facing cancer, her smile never ceased. Not only could Joyce’s smile light up the darkest room, her laugh was contagious. She believed laughter was the best medicine and found the positive to everything. Her strength and love of life could be seen in her smile and heard in her laugh.
Joyce’s soul was just like her purse – full of everything and anything someone could need. No matter the weight she carried on her shoulders, she always would have the strength to hug those she loved. She was always so proud and happy of the accomplishments of her family. Joyce enjoyed watching her family achieve their goals – including those who she was known as ‘second mom’ to.
Joyce enjoyed gardening, reading, playing games with the family, and many, many crafts. Joyce created each craft piece, whether cross stitch, jewelry, or a coloring page with an amazing amount of love. She treasured giving her pieces as gifts to loved ones.
Although she will be missed tremendously, Joyce’s memories will be carried in the hearts of her family, including her husband, Flip, daughters Jennie Pauschert and Diana (Nick) Alexander and her two granddaughters, Kaila Pauschert and Haley Perdew. She also leaves cherished memories to two sisters, Patricia (Nelson) Gingrich and Leslie Carrocce, and two brothers, Keith Phelps and Morris (Judy) Phelps, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 21st at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 550 N. Four Mile Run Road, at 4:00pm. The family will receive guests one hour prior to the service.
