Josephine Mellinger

Josephine Mellinger, 70 Poland- Josephine Mellinger, 70, passed away Saturday night in Prince Frederick, Maryland. Mrs. Mellinger was born in Youngstown April 23, 1933, a daughter of Norman L. and Harriet Guy Norris. She was a descendent of the Walker family, who moved to Poland in the 1800âa�a��s. She was a lifetime resident of Poland. She graduated with a Bachelorâa�a��s of Arts Degree from Lake Erie College in 1955. She was a lifetime member of the Poland Presbyterian Church. She was also involved in the Poland Garden Club, Poland Village Club, Junior League of Youngstown, and the Lake Erie College Club. She graciously opened her home for civic organizations Mrs. Mellinger enjoyed art, music, theatre, interior design, and loved spending time with children and animals. She enjoyed 40 summers with friends in New Harbor, Maine for the last 20 years at their home in Pemaquid Point. Her husband, Mark. W. Mellinger, whom she married January 25, 1958, died in November 2000. She leaves behind; a son, Scott Mellinger of Lake Forest, CA; a daughter, Lara Cogar of Huntingtown, MD; a sister, Jane Brown of So. Barre, VT; two grandsons, Taylor Mellinger and Jesse Cogar; and many beloved friends. Funeral services will be Friday 11 AM at the Poland Presbyterian Church. Friends may call Thursday from 6-8 at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland and Friday 10:00-10:45 AM at the church.
