Boardman - Josephine Elizabeth Cox, 95, of Boardman formerly of Youngstown, died early Wednesday morning at Shepherd of the Valley.
Mrs. Cox was born November 16, 1913 in Braddock, PA, a daughter of William and Anna Maisch Patterson.
She was a 1932 graduate of Struthers High School and worked at Papalia's grocery store in Struthers and Wittenauer's Pharmacy in Struthers, Poland and Boardman. Mrs. Cox was also nursemaid for several years. After retirement, Mrs. Cox volunteered at the Southside Hospital Gift Shop. She was a former member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Struthers.
Her husband Thomas Edward Cox, whom she married January 15, 1936, died October 19, 1959. She leaves three daughters, Beverly Wiesensee of Struthers, Peggy (Lennie) Hall with whom she made her home for 33 years, and Linda "T. J." Weckerly of Hanceville, AL; one son, Tommy (Chris) Cox of Springfield; eleven grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and her dog and sweetheart, Molly.
Besides her parents and husband, Mrs. Cox was preceded in death by one sister, Ethel Scott; one brother, Allen Patterson; and two grandchildren, Patricia and Robert Beard.
Services will be Saturday, 11:00 am at the Good Hope Lutheran Church with Pastor Robert Quaintance officiating. Interment will follow at the Lake Park Cemetery, Youngstown, Ohio.
The family requests that memorial contributions go to Shepherd of the Valley, 7148 West Blvd., Boardman, Ohio 44512.
Friends will be received Friday from 4-6 p.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home and Saturday from 10:00-10:45 a.m. at Good Hope Lutheran Church.
