STRUTHERS – Joseph G. Yug, 92, died Dec. 2, 2017, at his residence.
Mr. Yug was born Dec. 15, 1924, in Campbell, a son of Joseph and Josephine Kivach Yug.
Joe was a Campbell Memorial High School graduate and worked at Youngstown Sheet and Tube (LTV) for 37 years.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, during World War II, where he was aboard the USS Phoenix and was in 19 battles.
Joe was a member of Holy Apostles at St. Peter and Paul Church in Youngstown. He also was a member of the Lowellville Rod and Gun Club and was an avid hunter.
His wife, Martha G. Yug, whom he married Aug. 25, 1947, died Aug. 5, 1973.
He is survived by one daughter, Susan Yug of Struthers; two grandchildren, Samantha (Murray) Duncan Esq. of Washington, D.C. and Erik (Elizabeth) Schnoerr of Richmond, Va.; and nephew Alan (Linda) Thomas of Struthers.
Besides his parents and wife, Joe was preceded in death by two sisters, Anna Cassidy and Jenny Belansky.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the Holy Apostles at St. Peter and Paul Church, 421 Covington St., Youngstown, with Fr. Joseph Rudjak officiating.
Arrangements are being handled by the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home.
Interment will take place at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery.
