Canfield - Joseph John Woronka, 55, of Canfield, died Thursday afternoon at his residence of complications due to ALS (Lou Gehrig's Decease).
Joe was born May 25, 1955 in Hammond, IN, a son of the late John and Madge Austgen Woronka. He was raised on the Westside of Youngstown and moved to Canfield in 1984.
Joe was a 1973 graduate of Ursuline High School and attended Kent State University for two years. He worked as the Stage/Facility Manager for the Youngstown Symphony for the last 15 years. Prior to the Youngstown Symphony, from 1978-1985, Joe co-owned Specialite Corporation, a theatrical and stage lighting company. He worked for the Michael Stanley Band and Donnie Iris.
He was a member and former business agent for the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees and Motion Picture Machine Operators of United States and Canada.
Joe was owner of J.W. Eurotech, a Go-Kart Shop. He sold American and Italian Go-Karts and raced them at the Beaver Run Motor Sports Complex and the former race track "Therons".
Joe leaves his wife, the former Judith "Judye" Dellorco, whom he married May 25, 1984; one sister, Mary (Donald) Downey of Boardman; one brother, John (Gloria) Woronka of Louisville, OH; his niece and goddaughter, Emily (John) Kish of North Canton; his nephew and godson, David (Cheryl) Downey of Boardman; eleven other nieces and nephews; and twenty-five great-nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass will be held Friday, May 27th, 10:30 am at St. Luke Catholic Church in Boardman with Father Joseph Fata officiating. Friends will be received Friday from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the Church.
