AVENUTURA, FLA. - Joseph John Thomas, 83, formerly of Youngstown, passed on to Glory March 10, 2009.
He was born May 23, 1925, to Andrew and Mary T. (Dulic) Tomaskovic in Youngstown.
Joseph attended the Holy Name Church and School and graduated from Chaney High School.
He worked for Truscon Steel Co. as a crane operator before becoming an electrician, retiring in 1987.
He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local Union No. 64 and the Slovak Catholic Sokol Wreath No. 132.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, the former Eleanor DePerro; one daughter, Lorilee (Thomas) Amedia; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild, all of Miami Beach, Fla; and siblings, John Thomas of Chicago, Ann (Dukish) Gergel, Frances (Thomas) Gerish and Bob Tomaskovic, all of the Youngstown area.
He was preceded into Eternal Life by siblings, Martin Thomas, Mary Pat (Thomas) Sudetic, Helen (Thomas) Zelinka and Raymond Thomas.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 20, 2009, at 11 a.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home in Struthers.
