Joseph M. Surko, 76, was reunited with his wife Maryann on August 28, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Mr. Surko was born October 31, 1939 in Struthers.
He attended Struthers High School and went on to enlist in the United States Army, where he served for two years.
Joseph worked at Youngstown Sheet and Tube (LTV) and Republic Steel for 30 plus years.
He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica. Joseph loved gardening, outdoors, going to car shows, and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was known for making people laugh. He also enjoyed watching the New York Yankees and the Cleveland Browns.
His wife, the former Maryann Marchionda, whom he married June 6, 1965, died Feb. 6, 2011.
He is survived two daughters, Karen (Tony) Frattaroli of Poland and Diane Surko of Struthers; three sons, Joseph A. (Danielle) Surko of Poland, Thomas Surko of Youngstown, and Daniel Surko of Youngstown; two grandchildren, Mya Snyder and Phillip Synder, III; and one sister, Shirley McAllister of Boardman.
Besides his parents and wife, Joseph was preceded in death by one sister, Beverly Kessler.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica, Wednesday at 10:00 AM with Very Rev. Msgr. Michael J. Cariglio Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery.
Friends and family will be received 9:00 AM to 9:45 AM at the church.
Arrangements are being handling by the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, Struthers.
