Deer Park, TX - Joseph Scavelli, 79, formerly of Lowellville died August 28, 2016 at Bayshore Medical Center surrounded by family .

Mr. Scavelli was born April 20, 1937 in Lowellville, a son of Joseph and Nellie Tozzi Scavelli.

He was a 1955 Lowellville High School graduate. He recently moved to Texas with his sister to be close to a niece.

Joey spent most of his young life helping out at the family business Woodlow Alley in Lowellville. He was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary. Joey loved bowling, golfing, and was a devout Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns fan.

He is survived by his sister, Marilyn Hauser of Deer Park, TX; one niece, Patricia (Charlie) Watkins; and two nephews, Louis (Maureen) Scavelli and Joseph (Sue) Scavelli; three great-nieces, Jessica Hill, Nichole Spretz, Nina Scavelli,; and three great-nephews, Adin Guerrero, Chad Hill, and Cale Spretz.

Besides his parents, Joe was preceded in death by one brother, Lou Scavelli.

A prayer service will be held Tuesday at 9:30AM at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 244 McGill St., Lowellville, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary at 10:00 AM with Fr. John Jerek officiating. Interment will follow at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Cemetery.

Friends and family will be received Monday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Thanks to the Lowellville Athletic Department for welcoming Joey to help out with Lowellville sports for many years, he truly enjoyed being with all the student athletes.
