Joseph Ostovich Jr., Joseph Ostovich Jr., of Shepherd of the Valley, formerly of Sunrise Assisted Living, peacefully entered into eternal rest early Monday morning at the nursing home. Mr. Ostovich was born August 22, 1924 in Youngstown, a son of Joseph and Mary Keller Ostovich. A life long resident of Poland, Joseph was a 1943 graduate of Poland Seminary High School and received his B.S. in Business Administration from Youngstown College. He was employed as an adjuster for the Nationwide Insurance Company retiring in 1979 after thirty three years of service. Mr. Ostovich was also a 1963 graduate of the Dale Carnegie Institute and was an active member of the Carnegie Alumni Speakers Club. Mr. Ostovich served in the Navy during World War II and the Naval Reserves. In 1955 he retired from the reserves as an officer with the grade of Lieutenant. He was an active member of the Poland United Methodist Church where he served as an usher, visited the hospitalized, helped with Kidâa�a��s Club and participated in the Menâa�a��s Prayer Group. In his retirement Mr. Ostovich enjoyed many pastimes. He loved the YMCA, flying, golfing, handball, skiing and spending time with his nieces and nephews. Mr. Ostovich is survived by three brothers, Adam Ostovich of Poland, Vernon (Betty) Ostovich of Struthers and Ted (Michelle) Ostovich of Satellite Beach, Florida; six nieces and nephews, Karen (Nick) Visingardi of Poland, Eric Ostovich of Struthers, Cindy (Jeff) Semach of Delaware, Ohio, Jean (Bruce) Truxall of Columbus, Alex (Andrea) Ostovich of Alabama, Marshall (Dawn) Ostovich of Florida and nine great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Friday, 11:00 a.m. at the Poland United Methodist Church. Friends may call Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland and Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the church. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Poland United Methodist Church Building Fund, c/o 1940 Boardman-Poland Road, Poland, Ohio 44514.
