After his pathology residency at Loyola University of Chicago, Joe completed a forensics fellowship at the Miami-Dade Medical Examiner’s Office. Dr. Ohr practiced as a forensic pathologist and deputy coroner since 2005, beginning his professional career at the Franklin County Coroner’s Office, and serving most recently at the Mahoning County Coroner’s Office since 2009. He was also passionate in his fight against the heroin epidemic in his community and state.

Joe’s greatest joy in his life was being a father to his "little love bug" Maddie Ohr. Some of Joe's favorite things were sitting down to a wonderful meal, cooking and grilling, gardening, especially roses, watching and playing baseball, and annual family beach vacations to Nags Head, NC.
