Joseph Mochtyak

Poland - Joseph Mochtyak, 78 of Poland, died Sunday, November 23, 2008 at his residence with his family at his side. Mr. Mochtyak was born Thursday, April 17, 1930 in Campbell, a son of George & Elizabeth Keba Mochtyak, and was a life long area resident Mr. Mochtyak was a 1948 graduate of Poland Seminary High School, and a United States Army Veteran. He worked as a truck driver for many years, and also worked for Poland Countryside Furniture and Austintown Tool and Die, he retired April 3, 1996 after 40 years. He was a member of St. Michael Byzantine Church, Bessemer Sportsman Club, a member of several bowling leagues, he loved to go camping, he also was an avid hunter, fisherman, and loved to build model trains, remote control airplanes. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, the former Theresa Zofie, whom he married October 17, 1953, five children, Daniel (Sherri) Mochtyak of Poland, Terrie (Steve Hirt) Price of Poland, Linda (Jack) Evans of Youngstown, Leonard (Nancy) Mochtyak of Poland, and Sharon Mochtyak of Youngstown; one brother, George (Jean) Mochtyak of Poland; and nine grandchildren, Peter Mochtyak, Andrea Mochtyak, Jimmy Petruzzi, Samuel Price, Sarah Price, Ethan Price, Benjamin Mochtyak, Blaine Mochtyak and Brian Mochtyak. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Marie Mihalov. Funeral services will be held at St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church, Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Msgr. Victor Romza officiating. Family and friends will be received 5-8 P.M., Tuesday, November 25 at the at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland, where prayer services will be held Wednesday at 9:15 AM Contributions may be made in Mr. Mochtyak's name to the Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Boardman, Ohio 44512.
