Joseph Paul Menichini, 87 Lowellville- Joe R. P. Menichini, 87, of Assumption Village, formerly of 810 W. Wood Street, died Saturday afternoon at the nursing home. Mr. Menichini was born December 26, 1915 in Monogohalia, Pennsylvania and was the son of Mauro and Concetta Minutti Menichini. He was a life-long area resident of Lowellville. He was a foreman for Sharon Steel, Lowellville plant, for 26 years and managed YEO Farms for 35 years. He was a 1935 graduate of Lowellville High School and served in the United States Merchant Marines during World War II. He was a member of the Youngstown Old Timers Baseball Association and received a certificate of recognition in March, 1993. He was inducted into the Lowellville Football Hall of Fame in October of 1970 and into the Curbstone Hall of Fame for Track in 1986. He was a member of Our Lady of Holy Rosary Church in Lowellville. Besides his wife the former Evelyn Sell whom he married September 17, 1962, he leaves two daughters, Roberta (Gasper) Ballone of Lowellville and Gloria Fragle of Hermitage; three sisters, Mary Coppola, Ann Pinter and Lillian Mangine all of Lowellville and one brother, Bob Menichini of Girard; Seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. One brother, Paul Menichini preceded him in death. Funeral services will be Wednesday, 10:00 AM at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Lowellville, and 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Holy Rosary Church. Friends may call Tuesday from 5-8 PM at the funeral home.
