Joseph A. Malone, 63 Poland-Joseph A. Malone died suddenly on December 25, 2004 at his residence in Poland, Ohio. Mr. Malone was born in Warren, Ohio on July 5, 1941. He graduated from Warren Harding High School in 1959 where he was a star quarterback, leading his team to a state championship, and combining with teammate and receiver, Paul Warfield, a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. A veteran of the United States Air Force, and graduate of Youngstown State University, he recently retired as General Supervisor of Quality Control at General Motors (Lordstown, Ohio), where he was employed for 38 years. Mr. Malone was an avid golfer, gardener, and a huge Notre Dame Fan. He was a member of the Chesterton Club, Knights of Columbus, and also was installed as a thirty second degree Mason. His generosity and love for his family knew no limits. He was a devout catholic and member of Holy Family Church in Poland. He is survived by his wife of thirty seven years, Charleen (Campbell) Malone, whom he married July 15, 1967; a son and daughter-in-law, Brian J. Malone and Lea Anne (Heidman) Malone, of Medina, Ohio; a grandson, Carter Brian Malone; granddaughters Alyssa and Nicole; a son Craig Campbell Malone of Bowling Green, Kentucky; and a daughter Megan Lynne Malone of Cleveland, Ohio; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Susan (Campbell) Sparks and William R. Sparks of Canton, Ohio; Nephew and niece, Timothy W. Sparks and Kelsey Lynne Sparks of Canton, Ohio; Mother-in-law, Estelle J. Campbell of Poland, Ohio and Aunt Roberta Carothers of Poland, Ohio. Also, survived by an Aunt Wilma McGraw, of Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was preceded in death by a brother, James Malone. Funeral services will be Wednesday 12:30PM at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland and 1PM at the Holy Family Church. Friends may call Tuesday from 4-8PM at the funeral home.
