Joseph E. Magda âa�" 84 POLAND âa�" Joseph E. Magda, age 84 of Poland., died Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Health Center. Mr. Magda was born July 11, 1922 in Trauger, PA a son of Stephen & Elizabeth Shimko Magda, Sr. He attended the Chaney High School, and was in the Civilian Conservation Corp from April 18, 1941 to October 17, 1941. He worked for the Cold Metal Products company as a Crane Operator, retiring in 1983 after 40 years. He was 60 year member of the St. Nicholas Church, and a member of its Holy Name Society and the Alter and Rosary Society. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. Magda leaves his wife of 60 years, the former Dolores Crossen, whom he married October 20, 1945. One daughter, Doreen (James) Ponigar of Struthers; Three Grandchildren; Jamie (James) Brotherton of Chagrin Falls, OH; Wendy (Todd) Kennedy; of Boardman; James (fiancé Courtney Keener) Ponigar of Strongsville, OH; four great-grandchildren; Daniel, Zakary, Patrick Kennedy; and Ellie Brotherton. one Step sister, Genevieve Polonus of Farrell, PA. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by a step mother Mary Ontko Magda; three brothers, John, Magda, Stephen Magda, Jr., Frank Magda; three step sisters, Helen Carlos; Peggy Gross and Ann Marie Ontko Family will receive friends Friday from 6-8 at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, Struthers, where prayer services will be conducted Saturday at 10:30 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM at St. Nicholas Church in Struthers. Memorial Contributions may be given in Josephâa�a��s name to St. Nicholas Church, 775 Fifth St., Struthers, OH 44471.
