Poland - Joseph Len, 97, of Poland, died early Thursday morning, November 27, 2014 at his residence.
Joseph was born January 20, 1917 in New Castle, PA, a son of Louis and Katherine Len. At the age of 5, Joseph and his family moved to Europe, and he was raised in Poland. During WWII he served in the Polish Division of the RAF. Shortly after the war, Joseph returned to the United States and lived both in Youngstown and Chicago. In 1954 he settled in Poland.
Joseph co-founded the International Dies Incorporated. He retired in the 1990's after 40 years. Joseph thoroughly enjoyed working, he was very handy and a "jack of all trades." He loved animals both large and small and they loved him. Joseph was a quiet man who was compassionate and kind, gentle but strong, who loved all people.
He leaves his wife, the former Pauline Shura, whom he married October 3, 1953; two sons, Richard Len of Pittsburgh, PA, David Len of Poland; four daughters, Gillian Thompson of Fl, Kristine (Lenny) Nicolosi of Long Island, NY, Elizabeth (Randall) Williams of St Johnsbury, VT, and Maria Len of Boardman; and six grandchildren.
Besides his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by two sisters, Bronka and Sophie; and one brother, Marion Len.
Private services were held Saturday at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland.
