Joseph Edward Hynes

Joseph Edward Hynes, Jr., 65 Austintown- Joseph Edward Hynes, Jr., 65, of Austintown, died early Tuesday morning at St. Elizabeth Medical Center. Joe was born June 29, 1941 in Youngstown, a son of Joseph Sr., and Alma Kennedy Hynes. He was raised in Struthers and lived in Austintown most of his life. He was a 1959 graduate of Ursuline High School. After serving in Germany in the United States Air Force, Joe returned to this area and in 1973 received his BSBA in Management from Youngstown State University. He was a supervisor for General Motors, retiring in 1999 after 33 years. Joe enjoyed all sports and was an avid athlete. For many years, he played softball and was a member of several bowling and golf leagues including General Motors Retirees Golf League. He umpired Class B and AA and was a member of the American Amateur Baseball Congress. Joe was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. He leaves his wife, the former Janet Dota, whom he married July 8, 1961; one daughter, Maureen (Chris) Jones of Austintown; two sons, Joseph (Margie) Hynes III and Matthew Hynes, all of Austintown; one sister, Joanne Burrows of Coitsville; one brother, Mike Hynes of Poland; and four grandchildren, Madalyn, Joseph IV, Christopher and Ethan. Besides his parents, Mr. Hynes was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Savko. Joe was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and loyal friend. Funeral services will be Saturday, 10:15 AM at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland, and 11:00 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Friends may call Friday from 5-8 PM at the funeral home.
