Joseph Charles Haski Boardman- Joseph Charles Haski, 78, of 123 Meadowbrook Ave. died Sunday morning at his residence. Mr. Haski was born September 19, 1924 in Campbell, a son of Martin and Mary Skovira Haski. He has been a resident of Boardman since 1949. He attended The Rayen School leaving to serve in the the 8th Air Force in England during World War II. He later graduated from South High School and attended Youngstown State University. He became interested in flying and began taking flying lessons at 16, was a flight instructor for Southern Airways and in 1962 founded and became president of Haski Aviation in New Castle. He retired in 2001 after 39 years. He was a member of the Civil Air Patrol and was a FAA designated Pilot Examiner. In 1976 he built and flew a replica of Fokker D-7, a World War I vintage fighter plane. He was a member of St. Charles Roman Catholic Church in Boardman. Besides his wife the former Gloria Mae Kushner whom he married November 24, 1949 he leaves one daughter, Marcia Burgy of Boardman and one son, Martin (Candace) Haski of Edinburg, Pennsylvania; two sisters, Theresa Johnson of Newport News, Virginia and Dorothy Horvat of Macungi, Pennsylvania; six grandchildren and 1 great grandson. Funeral services will be Wedneday, 10:15 AM at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland and 11:00 A.M. at St. Charles Church. Friends may call Tuesday from 5-8 PM at the funeral home.
