Joseph DePillo, 90, of Poland, died Friday afternoon at St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
Joe was born February 18, 1921 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, a son of Guy and Amelia Simboli DePillo.
He was raised in Campbell and attended Campbell Memorial High School and was employed by Truscon Steel. After Truscon Steel he worked at DeArcangelis & Sons, Badnarik Paving Co., and DiPillo Office Furniture.
Joe enjoyed repairing and doing body work on cars. He loved to sing and dance, at every wedding he attended, he would sing "I Left My Heart in San Francisco".
Joe was a member of the Wick Lodge F &AM 418. A United States Army Veteran of World War II, Joe received the E-A-M-E Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, and the Purple Heart. He was a member of Heritage Presbyterian Church.
He leaves his wife of 68 years, the former Margaret Louise Bindas, whom he married October 31, 1942; three daughters, Georgette (Alex) Kollay of Boardman, Kathy Willig of Youngstown, and Margaret Jo "Maggie" (James Jr.) Naples of Boardman; two brothers, Larry DiPillo of Youngstown and Phillip (Mary Jane) DePillo of Florida; four grandchildren, Kenny (Chrissy) Willig of Poland, Kelly (Dave) Gorman of Struthers, Jimmy (Brandie) Naples III of Boardman, and Dominic Naples also of Boardman; eleven great-grandchildren, Breanna, Anthony, Marissa, Alexis and Paul Willig, DJ (David), Kendall, Brian and Emily Gorman, and Joey and Angelina Naples.
Besides his parents, Joe was preceded in death by one great-granddaughter, Kourtney Elizabeth Naples, and three sisters, Mary Miceli, Rose Davis, and Dorothy Galida.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday, 11:00 AM at Heritage Presbyterian Church with Rev. Kristin Stroble officiating.
Friends may call Monday from 5-8 PM at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland and Tuesday from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM at the church.
