Joseph P. D'Agostino

POLAND - Joseph "Satch" D'Agostino, 69, died peacefully Sunday afternoon,
July 13, 2014, with his family at his side, after a brief illness at
Shepherd of the Valley in Boardman.
Joseph was born Sept. 2, 1944, in Youngstown, a son of Joseph and Rose Manna
D¹Agostino.
A 1962 graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School, Joseph graduated from
Youngstown State University with a bachelor¹s degree in Business
Administration. He worked as a regional sales manager for Liggett & Myers
for over 37 years.
Joseph was a devoted member of the Holy Family Parish, where he was one of
the founding members and treasurer of the Holy Family Golf League. He also
coached the girls basketball and track teams at Holy Family for several
years. He was a member of the Vagabond golf league and the Sigma Club. Joe
loved Cardinal Mooney and Cardinal Mooney football was his passion every
football season.
A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Joseph leaves his wife, the
former Josephine Piersante, whom he married Dec. 27, 1969; daughter Jolene
(Richard) Getch of Rochester, Pa.; granddaughter Abby Getch of Rochester;
sister Phyllis (Don) Granchay of Poland; two Godchildren, Christine Granchay
and Maria Piersante both of Poland; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by his brother, Nicholas
D¹Agostino.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 17, at 10 a.m.
at the Holy Family Parish. A Prayer Service will be held Thursday at 9:30
a.m. at the funeral home.
Interment will follow at the Poland Riverside Cemetery, Poland.
Family and friends will be received today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the
Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 270 N. Main St., Poland.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made in Joseph¹s name to
the Cardinal Mooney High School Scholarship Fund, 2545 Erie St., Youngstown,
Ohio 44507.
The family would like to thank Shepherd of the Valley in Boardman for their
excellent care and compassion towards Joseph.
