New Middletown - Jonathan Queen, 55, died unexpectedly Monday evening, July 27, 2015 at the emergency room of St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center.

Jonathan was born July 13, 1960 in Findlay, Ohio, a son of Herbert and Virginia Bartholomew Queen. He came to Poland as a young child and resided there until moving to New Middletown in 2004.

He was a 1978 graduate of Poland Seminary High School. Jonathan received his bachelor's degree from Youngstown State University and his master's degree in occupational therapy from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Arizona. Jonathan loved what he did for a living and was dedicated to his patients. He was currently working as an outpatient certified occupational hand therapist for St. Elizabeth Health Center for the last 15 years.

In his free time, Jonathan enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and planting his annual vegetable garden. Jonathan could be described as a dedicated family man and one who was never hesitant to lend you his honest opinion. He could fix most anything and was always willing to help anyone.

He was a member of both Bethel Friends Church in Poland and St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in New Middletown.

In addition to his mother, Virginia, of Boardman, he is survived by his wife, the former Carla M. Singer, whom he married July 3, 2004; his daughter, Michelle Queen, age 9; four sisters, Julie (John) Wilcox of Canfield, Dr. Heather (Michael) Queen-Williams of Copley, Amy (Leiv) Bue, and Holly Queen, both of Middleburg Heights; a brother, Stephen (Beth) Queen of Poland; father and mother-in-law, Carl and Elizabeth Singer of New Castle, PA; brother-in-law, Jim (Moira) Singer of Wexford, PA; and nieces and nephews, Lilly, Chloe, Madeleine, Anna, Brandon, Brooke, Ian, Virginia, and Evan.

Jonathan was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Herbert L. Queen.

A funeral service will be held Thursday at 12:30 p.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 270 N. Main St., Poland, with Pastor Bobby Murphy officiating.

Family and friends will be received today from 4-7 p.m. and Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions in Jonathan's name to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 6100 Rockside Woods, Suite 445, Independence, OH 44131.
