Poland - Jon V. Burkert, 76, died April 8, 2013.

Mr. Burkert was born April 15, 1936 in Aliquippa, PA, a son of John and Gladys Blithe Burkert.
He was raised by his sister and brother-in law, Roy and Betty Burkert McCoy.

Jon was a graduate of Darlington High School in Pennsylvania. He worked at The Coca-Cola Company as a warehouse supervisor, before retiring in 2001.

He was a member of the Poland Volunteer Fire Department and the Prince of Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Poland. Jon enjoyed puzzles, reading, writing, and music.

He spent 8 years in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany and Alaska, where he served in the Lebanon Conflict.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Grace Johnson Cramer Burkert, whom he married April 27, 1968; three step-children, Bonnie (Harold) Cramer Norris of Leetonia, Lucinda (Jim) Cramer Parsons of Youngstown, and Joseph H. (Darlene) Cramer of Poland; three sisters, Kay (Robert) Wilson of New Waterford, Karen Bryan of Youngstown, and Sharon (Larry) Evans of East Palestine; one brother, Bill (Cathy) McCoy of Youngstown; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild on the way.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.

Services will be held at the new Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market St., Boardman, on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Julianne Smith officiating. Interment will be at Poland Riverside Cemetery.

Friends and family will be received Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. and Thursday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank Dr. Knight and his staff, Dr. Burkert, and Hospice of the Valley for their care.
