John J. Tosi, 84 Poland- John J. Tosi, 84, of 5645 Clingan Road died Wednesday evening at his residence. Mr. Tosi was born February 4, 1920 in Blacklick, Pennsylvania, a son of Alberto and Celeste Bergenti Tosi. He was raised in Blairsville and came to this area in 1954. He was a 1939 graduate of Blairsville High School and received his degree in Pharmacy from the University of Pittsburgh in 1949. He was a pharmacist for several area drug stores and retired in 1997 from Wittenauer Gift Shop and Pharmacy in Poland. Mr. Tosi served in the United States Navy, in World War II from 1942 until 1946. He was a Pharmacist Mate for the Seabees in the Pacific and then for the military government in Okinawa after the war. He was a member of the Poland Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon, a member of the Pharmaceutical Association and a former member of the Optimist and Lions Club. In his free time he volunteered for the Rescue Mission. Besides his wife the former Alberta Smith whom he married April 29, 1950, he leaves one daughter, Susan Pitt of Poland; two sons, John (Debra) Tosi of Canfield and Dave (Maria) Tosi of Youngstown; two sisters, Jacqueline (Edward) Kengerski of Saltsburg, Pennsylvania and Ernestine Petraca of Blairsville, Pennsylvania and eight grandchildren. Besides his parents, two sisters, Jean Tosi and Mary Rich and one brother Bruno Tosi preceded him in death. Funeral services will be Saturday, 2:00 p.m. at the Poland Presbyterian Church. Friends may call today from 5-8 p.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home and Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. in the church.
