John J. "Sunset" Timkovich

January 23, 1950 — November 6, 2017

John J. "Sunset" Timkovich, 67, passed away Monday afternoon, November 6, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center.

John was born January 23, 1950 in Youngstown, a son of John and Margaret (Sakara) Timkovich.

He attended North High School and was employed as a truck driver and later as a self-employed carpenter.

John had a passion for woodworking and loved making wooden crafts for his family. Being surrounded by his family was his favorite pastime. During parties and the holidays, he enjoyed cooking indoor and outdoor for his entire family. He also enjoyed growing his own food in his garden and being outdoors.

John is survived by the love of his life of 30 years, Diana Warchol, who has been his caregiver for the past 13 years; three children, John (Melissa) Timkovich, Danielle (Joe) Zumpella and Brandy Culler; four stepchildren, Bill (Terry) Warchol, Darla (Kirk) Howell, Johnny (Tina) Warchol, and Brian (Niki) Warchol; three siblings, Margie (James) Pugh, Joseph (Eva) Timkovich, and Mary Ann (James) Theisler; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Mac (Diane) McInnis, John McInnis, Larry McInnis, and Mary Horner and her son Shane, who have shared their loving home with John and Diana for the last 4 years. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Waiting for him in heaven were his parents, John and Margaret Timkovich; Diana's parents, Cecil and Gladys McInnis; brother-in-law, Jimmy McInnis; and sisters-in-law, Linda Simanton and LaDonna McMillen.

Family and friends will be received on Saturday from 2-2:45 p.m. at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market St., where a memorial service will follow on Saturday at 3 p.m. Following the service, all guests are invited for a dinner at the Becker Family Center in Boardman.

Diana and Mary would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Homecare with Heart for caring for John over the past 10 years. The family would also like to thank the staff and doctors at St. Elizabeth Boardman and VPA for their wonderful care and compassion they showed to John and his family.
