John Michael Strong Struthers- John Michael Strong died Monday at his residence after a battle with cancer. He was born Nov. 8, 1950 in Youngstown. A 1969 Boardman High School graduate, he was in the U.S. Navy from 1969 to 1973, where he was an aviation electronics technician. While he was stationed in California, he met and married Goldie Ann Moore on Nov. 12, 1972. He worked for LTV, the former Republic Steel, for 13 years, at Industrial Air Control for 12 years and at Schaffers in Champion. He attended New Castle School of Trades for diesel mechanics. He enjoyed auto restoration and was very proud of his 1967 Chevrolet. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and loved the outdoors and nature. He collected Native American artifacts and made arts and crafts. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his mother, Jeanine Strong of Austintown; his wife of Struthers; his children, Bonnie Strong of Struthers, Wendy Mileto (Vince Jr.) of Struthers, Carrie (Larry II) Thompson of Pittsburgh and Julie (Brian) Strong of Boardman; six grandchildren, Vincent III, Brandon, Rocky, Larry III, Brian Jr. and Nicolette; brothers, Richard Strong of Wadsworth and Jerry Strong of Greenford; and a sister, Susan Friedrich of Boardman. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Glenn Strong and his brother, Robert Lee Strong.
