John W. Stevenson

John W. Stevenson, Sr., 74 Struthers- John W. Stevenson, Sr., 74, of Struthers died of natural causes early Wednesday morning in New Orleans, Louisiana. Mr. Stevenson was appointed as Patrolman for the Struthers Police Department on February 21, 1956. He retired February 1, 1984 after 28 years of service. He was presently working for Sports Productions, selling college baseball and basketball season passes for many universities across the country. He served in the United States Air Force from 1951 until 1955 and then enlisted in the Air Force Reserves from 1955 until 1958. Mr. Stevenson was appointed President of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #41 in 1961, was a member of the Poland Masonic Lodge F&AM #766, serving as past master in 1968 and a member of the Aut Mori Grotto. His wife the former Lois Ann Peterson whom he married December 14, 1956 died November 1979. He leaves one son, John W. (Mary Ellen) Stevenson, Jr., of Struthers; two daughter, Deborah (Samuel) Wade of New Castle and Elizabeth (Gary) Slater of Ravenna; two grandchildren, Patrick John Stevenson and Jessica Ann Slater. Besides his parents and wife, Mr. Stevenson was preceded in death by a half- brother Fritz Stevenson. Funeral services will be Thursday, 10:00 AM at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, Struthers.
