John H. "Jack" Shultz
Poland- John H. "Jack" Shultz, 81, of Poland, died Sunday morning at his residence.
Jack was born February 4, 1929 in Poland, a son of Gail and Ethel Cyrus Shultz.
A life-long resident of Poland, Jack attended Struthers High School. He worked at the old McGill Dairy in Poland before working as a truck driver for M&M Trucking Company. He then worked at Republic Steel for over 4 years and then was employed by International Mill Service for 20 years, retiring in 1982. After retirement he worked for RL Best Company in Boardman, Trans Spec Trucking in Columbiana, and then for Gold Cross Livery Service in Struthers for 15 years.
For 34 years, Jack volunteered for the Poland Fire Department. He was a member of the Poland Masonic Lodge F&AM 766, Aut Morri Grotto, Grotto Old Timers, the former Poland Breakfast Club, and the White Shrine of Jerusalem. Jack enjoyed mechanics, antique cars, antique trucks, and NASCAR.
Jack leaves his wife, the former Alcey Smith whom he married November 26, 1966; sisters-in-law, Alice Shultz of Poland, Olive "Sis" Brewster of Orchard Lake MI; brother-in-law, Jack Smith of North Canton; four nieces and nephews; and numerous cousin from the New Middletown area.
Besides his parents, Jack was preceded in death by three sisters, Ethel Riddle, Ruth Lipp, and Grace Runge; and three brothers, Robert, George, and Paul Shultz.
A Memorial service will be held Thursday, 11:00 am at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland with Pastor Bob Quaintance officiating. Interment will follow at Poland Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 4-7 pm at the funeral home where a Masonic service will be held at 7:00 pm.
