John P. Romeo, 86, of Struthers, died Monday evening at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Boardman.
John was born January 1, 1927 in Campbell, a son of James and Edith Matteo Romeo.
A life-long area resident of Struthers, John graduated from Struthers High School in January of 1945. He then enlisted in the United States Navy and served on the USS Los Angeles at the end of World War II.
Returning to Struthers, John worked at the Youngstown Sheet & Tube, retiring in 1979. Mechanically inclined, John was a service technician for Pine Lake in his later years.
John loved fishing and hunting and was a 50 year member of the Lowellville Rod and Gun Club. He also enjoyed gardening and was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians.
John leaves his wife of 64 years, the former June Marie McAllister, three daughters, Tricia Romeo of Struthers, Diane (Harold) Hutzen of Poland, and Jackie (Rick) Tinsley of Port St. Lucie, Fl; one son, Nicholas (Kathy) Romeo of Poland; six grandchildren, Niki (Scott) Arkwright, Rebecca (Bill) Kittinger, Brian and Kristin Hutzen, Kailyn and Dylan Tinsley; and two great-grandchildren, Andrew and Nathan Arkwright.
Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by three brothers, Vince, Nicholas and Joe Romeo; and two sisters, Nancy St. Pierre and Angeline Green.
There are no services or calling hours. Arrangements are being handled by the Davidson-Becker Funeral Homes, Struthers.
