John N. Opritza, 79 Struthers- John N. Opritza, 79, of 571 Idora Lane died early Wednesday morning at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born in Bristolville, Ohio March 9, 1925, a son of Nicholas J. Opritza Sr. and Anna Lameranjun. Mr. Opritza was a graduate of East High School and attended Youngstown College, where he was among the founders of the Indepenguins Club. He worked in the Maintenance Department at Schwebelâa�a��s Bakery for 16 years, retiring in 1995. He was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church in Boardman. Mr. Opritza was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corp serving during WW II. He leaves his wife, the former Barbara Dugas, whom he married December 5, 1970; three daughters, Vicki Balogh of Struthers, Cynthia (Dennis) Golubic of El Paso, TX, and Jennifer (Matt) Martin of Derry, NH; two sons, James (Lynn) Opritza of Lowellville and William (Diana) Opritza of Struthers; one sister, Pauline Baun of Columbus; one brother, Dr. Andrew (Jan) Opritza of Melvern, OH; and nine grandchildren, Dennis, Andrew, Luke, Kaitlyn, Madison, Lindsey, Sierra, Mackenzie, and Little Billy. He was preceded in death by a brother, Nicholas Opritza Jr. Funeral services will be Friday 7PM at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, Struthers where friends may call from 4:00-6:45 PM.
