Sebring - John H. Moyer, 95, of Sebring, formerly of Marion Drive in Poland, died Thursday evening at Crandall Medical Center.
John was born August 20, 1914 in Youngstown, a son of P. Wade and Louella Bishop Moyer. He was raised in the Brownlee Woods area and moved to Poland 1952.
An Eagle Scout at the age of 15, John was a 1932 graduate of South High School. He was a staff manager and agent for Prudential Life Insurance Company for over 25 years, retiring in 1977. Prior to Prudential, John worked at the Youngstown Sheet & Tube Company.
He was a member of Poland Masonic Lodge F&AM #766 and a 32nd degree Mason of the Valley of Youngstown Scottish Rite. He was a 50 year member of the Al Koran of Cleveland, and a member of the Youngstown Shrine Club. John attended church services and bible studies at Copeland Oaks/Crandall Medical Center, where he resided for the past seventeen years.
His wife, the former LaRue Smith, whom he married December 7, 1935, died February 12, 2008. John is survived by two daughters, Barbara Ciccotelli of Columbus and Suzanne A Moyer of Pittsburgh; two grandchildren, Tamara J.(Burl) Ciccotelli Scott and Robert J. Ciccotelli; and three great-grandchildren, Ansley and Abby Scott and Jake Ciccotelli.
Besides his parents and wife, John was preceded in death by five brothers, Samuel, Howard, Lee, Wade, and Ralph Moyer.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 14 at 1:00 p.m. at Copeland Oaks Chapel with Rev. David Perry officiating. John will be interred at Lake Park Cemetery.
