POLAND-John Matricardi, 87, passed away Sunday evening, August 19, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
He was born August 27, 1924 in Lawrence County, PA, the son of the late Samuel and Angeline (Rotz) Matricardi, and was a resident of Lowellville and Poland.
John was employed as a millwright at the Sharon Steel Corp. and was a United States Marine Corps. Veteran, serving during World War II.
Mr. Matricardi was a member of Western Reserve Community Church in Boardman. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, flea markets, and all sporting events. His greatest love was spending time with his family and friends.
His wife, the former Sally Jane Anders, whom he married February 10, 1951, died April 23, 2003. He is survived by his two sons, John S. (Karen) Matricardi of Lakewood and Dennis M. (Paula) of McKinney, TX; five brothers, Alfred, James, Samuel, and Donald Matricardi and Patsy Petrock; sister, Virginia Scavnicky; and his six grandchildren, Kristen, Ryan, Margaret, Jared, Molly, and Jake.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Michael Petrock and Lawrence Matricardi.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland with Pastor Ange LaCivita officiating. Interment will be at Lake Park Cemetery.
Family and friends will be received Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. and Thursday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the funeral home.
