Struthers - John Patrick Kology, Sr., 79, of Struthers, died Monday, May 26, 2008 at his residence after a six year battle with cancer. John was born December 27, 1928 in Youngstown, Ohio, a son of John J. and Anna Salatsky Kology. A 1947 graduate of Ursuline High School, he worked for Youngstown Sheet and Tube, retiring in 1986. After retirement, he worked for the Mahoning National Bank and for the Mill Creek Park Golf Course as a ranger. He was a member of St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church in Struthers and the Polish Roman Catholic Union. He was a United States Navy Veteran serving during the Korean War and was a life-member of the V.F.W Post no. 3538. His hobbies included golfing and bowling, which he enjoyed for over 40 years. He leaves his wife, the former Lillian Gentile, whom he married July 30, 1949; a son, John P. (Carol) Kology, Jr. of Struthers; two daughters, Janet Dyce and Karen Tocco, both of Struthers; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Daisy Annichine of Struthers; and a brother-in-law, Daniel J. Gentile of Canfield. Mr. Kology was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Lake Park Cemetery. Friends will be received Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home, where a prayer service will be held Friday at 10 a.m. Please visit
