John W. Keyes, 82 Youngstown- John W. Keyes, 82, of 2440 McCartney Rd. died Monday at Wade Park Veteran Hospital in Cleveland. Mr. Keyes was born in West Jefferson, North Carolina August 19, 1921, a son of Art and Lela Tunmire Keyes. He came to the area in 1949. He worked at Youngstown Sheet and Tube (LTV) in the Open Harth Department for 28 years, before retiring in 1976. Mr. Keyes was a United States Army Veteran serving during the Normandy Invasion, where he received a purple heart. He was a former member of the First Baptist Church in Struthers. He leaves his wife, the former Zazilia Schuster, whom he married March 1968; two sons, Harold and William Keyes both of North Carolina; two step-sons, Robert Miller of St. Maryâa�a��s, OH and John W. Keyes Jr. at home; two step-daughters, Denise Capuzello of North Jackson and Shirley Korda of Youngstown; fourteen grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Tina Keyes; and two brothers, Robert and Dewey Keyes. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home.
