Boardman - John Richard Kanna, 77, died February 1, 2014 at Salem Regional Hospital.
Mr. Kanna was born February 17, 1936 in Youngstown, a son of John and Olga Chulik Kanna.
He was a Struthers High School graduate. John worked as a driver for Gold Cross Ambulance Company and was a Supervisor for General Motors, retiring in 1993. He enjoyed golfing, camping, boating, and traveling. John was an avid Cleveland Indians and Browns fan.
He is survived by three daughters, Janet (Jim) Kanna Bartell of Youngstown, Barbara (Dave) Kanna Shacklock of Campbell, and Karen Kanna of Arizona; a son, David Kanna of Cincinnati; a sister, Clara Swope of New York; thirteen grandchildren, Kelly Proaccini, Kristy Taaffe, Stephen Wolfe, Joshua Bartell, Justin Bartell, Tyler Bartell, Donald Maker, Savanna Maker, Mathew Maker, Danny Kanna, Jessica Pappas, Amy Pappas, and Nickolas Pappas; nine great-grandchildren , Jordan Procaccini, Hailey Procaccini, Mickayla Taaffe, Gianna Taaffe, Chase Bartell, Autumn Bartell, Jaxxon Bartell, Penelope Wolfe, and Lily Kanna.
Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by three sisters, Betty Frank, Gertrude Furda, and Margaret Kanna; and a great-grandchild, Angel Marie Maker.
Services will be held Wednesday at 7:00PM at Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, Stuthers, where friends and family will be received from 4:00-6:45PM
