Boardman - John Leslie Harr, 88, died November 8, 2015 in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his family. John was born December 4, 1926 in Beaver Falls, PA, son of the late John and Eleanor Irvin Harr.
He was a graduate of Beaver Falls High School and went on to earn his Bachelors Degree from Geneva College and his Master's in Education and School Administration from The University of Pittsburgh. John started as a teacher at Boardman Schools and retired as Assistant Superintendent in 1991 following 41 years of employment. He was a member of Boardman United Methodist Church, where he served as the Chairman of the Administration Board, Chairman of the Trustees, was on the finance committee and was a member of the sanctuary building committee. John was a Board of Education representative with the architects and construction during the planning and building of two elementary schools, the middle school and high school in Boardman. He was a former Civic Association Man of the Year and a former member and past president of Boardman Rotary. John was a member of the Boardman Booster Hall of Fame and enjoyed fishing, golf and vacationing with family and friends.
He leaves his loving wife Margaret Bishop Harr, whom he married on June 4, 1949; his son, Richard Kenneth (Gale) Harr of Silver Lake, OH; daughter, Marjorie Lynn (Robert) Topoleski of Canfield; three grandchildren, Brandon (Sarah) Harr, Brittany Harr and Toni (Nate Rusu) Topoleski; three great-grandchildren, Parker Harr, Aubrey Harr and Lainey Rusu.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Leslie Topoleski.
Funeral services will be Friday at 11am at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market St. Boardman. Interment will follow in Green Haven Memorial Gardens.
Friends will be received on Thursday from 4-7pm and prior to the service on Friday from 10-10:45am at the funeral home.
