Poland - John H. Bishop Jr., 81, died April 25, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center. He was born March 12, 1935 in Poland to the late John and Ruby Codner Bishop.
He was a 1954 graduate of Poland Seminary High School where he played football. John was an avid Poland Bulldog football and basketball fan and was also a huge Cleveland Browns fan. John proudly served in the United States Army where he was stationed in Germany and was Honorably discharged in 1962. He was employed as a Predictive Maintenance Analyst for G.M. Lordstown for 35 years, retiring in 2001. Prior to his employment at G.M. John worked at Ohio Edison for several years. John was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in New Middletown. He enjoyed vacationing in Florida, boating, fishing and spending time with his family.
He leaves his son, Jeff (Diane) Bishop of Mentor; two sisters, Ann Carroll of Ft. Myers, FL and Fran Bishop of The Villages, FL; sister-in-law, Marilyn (Paul) Wilson of Jacksonville, FL; and four nieces, Kim, Kelly, Kari and Joy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dottie Bishop on December 21, 2005.
A private Memorial Mass will be held at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Poland Riverside Cemetery.
