John Byron Grapevine, Sr., 78 Lowellville- John Byron Grapevine, Sr., died of complications due to diabetes, Thursday evening at St. Elizabeth Health Center. Mr. Grapevine was born August 1, 1926 in Lowellville, a son of Donald and Jeanne Marie DeBourgesden. He was a life-long resident of Lowellville. A 1944 graduate of Lowellville High School Mr. Grapevine served in the 24th Division of the United States Army, during World War II in the Phillipines and in the occupation of Japan. He was a Maintenance Supervisor for Ohio Edison retiring in 1988 after 35 years and was a fireman for P&LE Railroad. Mr. Grapevine was a member of the former Lowellville Presbyterian Church where he was a Deacon. He was a member of Sulgrave Lodge #696 F&AM, where he served as Worshipful Master in 1971 and was Past Master. He was a member of the Aut Mori Grotto and Poland Masonic Breakfast Club. Besides his wife of 54 years, the former Sarah Simkins he leaves one daughter, Valerie (John) Heban of North Canton; two sons, John (Nancy) Grapevine, Jr., of Lowellville and Randall Grapevine; and six grandchildren, Mrs. Lauren Gallucci, Dan, Cory and Dennis Heban, Gina and Alison Grapevine. Besides his parents, Mr. Grapevine is preceded in death by two brothers, Henry and Donald Grapevine. Funeral services will be Monday, 10:00 AM at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, Struthers where friends may call Sunday from 5-8 PM. A Masonic service will be held at 8:00 PM.
