Boardman - John L. "Jack" Finn, 89, of Boardman, formerly of Struthers, died early Tuesday morning, November 16, 2015 at Vista Center of Boardman.
Jack was born May 13, 1926 in Youngstown, a son of Luke and Isabelle Fitzgerald Finn. He was raised in Youngstown and moved to Struthers in 1950. In 2005 he moved to Victoria House and then in January of this year to the Vista Center.
Jack was a 1944 graduate of Ursuline High School where he played football and received All City recognition. After high school, Jack served in the United States Army. Jack attended Kent State and Youngstown College and received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration, with a major in Accounting. He was employed by Republic Steel for over 33 years retiring in 1982.
Jack enjoyed traveling, golfing and bowling. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. He was a member of Christ Our Savior Parish at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Struthers.
His wife, the former Leotta James, whom he married September 4, 1950, died November 20, 1976. Jack leaves three daughters, Jackie (Larry) Rizer of Canfield, Pat (David) Toto of Austintown and Colleen (John) Skinner of Lake George, NY; three sons, Bill (Sandy) Finn of Ft. Myers, FL, Kevin (Janice) Finn of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, and James Jude Finn of Struthers; one brother, Bill (Donna) Finn of Farmington Hills, MI; fifteen grandchildren, Kaster, Kevin, Keri, Kristopher, Larry, Kristin, Erin, Lea, John Elliott, Billy, Bobby, Michelle, Tommy, Katie, and Kacie; twenty great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and
In addition to his parents and wife, Jack was preceded in death by sister, Marcella Cavanaugh; brother, Donald Finn; brother-in-law, Alfred Holmes; two sisters-in-law, Kathleen and Rosemary Finn
A Prayer Service will be held Thursday 9:15 AM at Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at Christ Our Savior Parish at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Struthers with Fr. Bernard N. Gaeta officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.
Friends will be received Wednesday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
