Poland - John (Jack) Edwin Felger, passed away Sunday afternoon, January 17, 2016 at Hospice of the Valley Hospice House with his family at his side.

John was born in New Springfield, Ohio, May 15, 1926 to Fred and Helen (Brown) Felger.

Active in high school sports, John was later inducted into the Springfield Township High School "Hall of Fame" in 2010". In 1944 he left school and joined the U S Navy where he served as a Machinist Mate on LST 1024 in the Pacific theatre through the end of WWII. In 1947 he returned to school and graduated with his high school sweetheart Mamie. They were married on July 3, 1948. Through the years they attended many reunions with his shipmates across the country. He was employed as a machinist at Wean United for 43 years. John enjoyed refinishing many pieces of antique furniture.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Felger. He leaves his wife of 67 years Mamie (Shaffer), a daughter Shelley Carter (Andy) of Lexington, KY and two sons Bradley (Betty) Felger of Rochester, PA and Bartley (Penny) Felger of Petersburg, OH. Seven Grandchildren, Tiffin Plaisted, Brandon Felger, Brittan Wiley, Whitney Corey, Talley Miller, Brett Felger, Baylee Felger. Seven Great-Grandchildren, Logan and Cooper Felger, Blake and Cooper Wiley, Braydon Plaisted, Berkley Corey, Hayden Felger and another on the way.

He was a member of Poland Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder. He served on the Poland Fire Department for 20 years and was member of the Poland American Legion Post #15 and a former member of the Poland Masonic Lodge F&AM 766. John was a member of the Ohio LST Association.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, 11:00 AM at the Poland Presbyterian Church with Dr. Brent Eelman officiating. Friends and family may visit Wednesday from 4-7 PM at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland and Thursday from 10-10:45 AM at the church.
