YOUNGSTOWN - John Michael Easterday, 75, a familiar friend of Jesus, went home Sunday, March 8, 2009.
He was born March 25, 1933 and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, son of Herman and Willeta Easterday. He graduated from Rockhurst High School in Kansas City and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Rockhurst College.
Before moving to Youngstown in 1972 as a retail manager for the Color Tile Company, he had been employed by Uniroyal in Kansas City and the Boeing Airplane Company in Wichita, Kansas. In 1976 he met and married Sharlene (Felix) and together they opened Easterday's Printing Center.
He was an active member of Bethel Friends Church in Poland, a past President of Kiwanis Club of Youngstown and the Buckeye Eyes and Ears Blockwatch, a member of CBMC, Meals on Wheels, and Care Net Pregnancy Center, as well as several other organizations over the last 30 years.
John is survived by his wife Sharlene, four sons, John, Tom (Betsy), Ken (Julie) and Dan (Sherrie); four daughters, Patti (Lennie) Hall, Elaine (Richard) Kish, Debbie (Bob) Duzzny and Rita Smith; eleven grandchildren, Lyndsie, Alison and Philip Hall, Amy and Josie Easterday; Josh, John Michael and Katie Easterday; Jamie and Daniel Webster and Samantha Richards; and one great granddaughter Cameron; one brother David (Sammy) Easterday; and a sister Dorothy Lovett; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father and a daughter Barbara.
Family and friends will be received Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Davidson-Becker Funeral Home in Struthers.
Services will be held Thursday 11:00 a.m. at Bethel Friends Church in Poland, with Pastor Bobby Murphy officiating. Family and friends will be received from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will be at Lake Park Cemetery in Youngstown.
