John B. Diana, 84 Struthers- John B. Diana, 84, of 56 Helena Drive, died Thursday morning at Forum Health, Northside Medical Center. Mr. Diana was born November 5, 1919 in Youngstown, a son of James V. and Julia Moore Diana. He lived most of his life in Struthers. He was an Army Veteran during World War II serving in Europe as a Combat Engineer for Company B, C Battalion. He received both the Good Conduct Medal and the Purple Heart. On his return from the War he was a distributor for Petersburg Creamery, owning his own routes throughout Mahoning County. In 1968 he became an insurance agent for American General retiring in 1985. As an agent, Mr. Diana qualified for many enjoyable trips with his wife. He was a member of St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church, the ITAM Club in Youngstown and Struthers Fraternal Order of Eagles where he was a member of their bowling team. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed riding horses. He also enjoyed spending his time with friends walking the Southern Park Mall. Besides his wife the former Josephine Pondoff with whom he married June 24, 1941 he leaves, one daughter, Judith Anne (William) Manus of North Jackson and two grandsons, Marc J. Manus of Los Angeles, California and Christopher W. Manus of North Jackson. Besides his parents, four sisters, Marie Trochio, Lena Diana, Mary Lucarell and Nora Bellos and four brothers, Anthony, William, Joseph and Frank Diana preceded him in death. Funeral services will be Tuesday, 9:30 AM at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland and 10:00 AM at St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church. Friends may call Monday from 5-8 PM at the funeral home.
