John O. Deeter, 84 Edinburg- John O. Deeter, 84 of Baird Rd. died Thursday evening at Jameson Memorial Hospital, New Castle, Pennsylvania. Mr. Deeter was born June 30, 1918 in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, a son of Milton and Martha Saylor Deeter. He has been a resident of Edinburg since 1955. He was a threader operator for LTV Steel for 19 years retiring in 1974. He was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Pennsylvania, Mountain Field and Stream Club and SOAR organization. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and truly loved the outdoors. His wife the former Edna Emerick whom he married April 10, 1940 died June 6, 1989. He leaves one daughter, Sharon (Jack) McConahy and a son John O. Deeter, Jr. both of Edinburg; three sisters, Martha Brown of Greencastle; Helen St Clair and Ruth Martin both of Somerset; three brothers, George and Charles Deeter both of Somerset and Robert Deeter of Greensboro, North Carolina; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Besides his parents he is preceded in death by one son Larry Clarence Deeter, four brothers, Earl, Curtis, Milton Jr., and James Deeter and three sisters, Elnora Snyder, Ethel Mae Kopacha and Lois Mackey. Funeral Services will be Tuesday at Deaner Funeral Home in Berlin Pennsylvania. Friends may call Sunday from 4-6 PM at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Lowellville and Monday from 2-4 and 7-9PM at Deaner Funeral Home.
